Yakov and Angele Hanansen have been working on broad range of commissions for public and private spaces for over 30 years. Their careers started in the former USSR, where they were working on projects for interiors and exteriors. Projects included a variety of media such as mosaics, tapestries, appliqué, relief carvings, ceramics. Works were installed on the public building facades, in the museums, schools, government and private residencies. Hanansens were honored with multiple achievement awards and a membership in a State Artist Union.

In 1995 Yakov and Angele opened Unicorn Art Studio, Inc. in New York City. Studio is specializing in custom made mosaics for public and private spaces. Studio works with the private customers, interior designers, architects, and governmental agencies. Studio also collaborates with other artists to translate their works into mosaics.
